A few new ones

Nothing really new to blog today, but thought I would share a couple pictures I took of Emery last week.

I was getting ready in the bathroom the other morning and had Emery laying in the hall and she was getting bored and fussy. Next thing I know Teagun is standing over her singing that song to her. Now how cute is that??? Such a great big brother! (no, I did not have my camera with my in the bathroom - I ran and got it!). :)

My Kids

I think these are the first half-way decent pictures I have been able to get of Teagun and Emery together. Teagun doesn't care to hold her all that much and if he does, it is for a very short period, so it is hard to have the camera ready to take even one picture before he is done.

Today is my last day of maternity leave. It has gone by way too fast this time. I was one of those people who could not wait to go back to work from my maternity leave last time. Completely different story this time - not quite sure why. I think it is because Teagun is older, can talk with me, we play, etc. We are definitely not just sitting around this time around. At least I only have to go back two days a week, but even so, I am going to miss my babies those two days!

Christmas Recap

Yes, I know I am only 6 weeks late with this!!! Sorry, I've been busy! But I am doing this post more for myself than anything since, as I mentioned before, I will be turning my blog into a hardcopy book as a keepsake since I am really bad about printing photos and keeping albums! This will be much easier for me.

You gotta love being a kid when you get to have Christmas four times! We started out a week before Christmas at my mother-in-laws house.


Then the weekend before Christmas we travelled to Montana to spend some time with Trevor's grandparents and aunt/uncle/cousins



And Emery turned 1 month old...


Then we left Montana on Christmas Eve to make it back to my parents house to celebrate with them. We even had a visit from Santa there!



And a picture of the kids in their matching Christmas jammies - I wonder how long Teagun will let me keep with this tradition???



And a family picture (I had a few to choose from and I was trying to entertain Teagun to keep still and had my mouth wide open in those. Trevor looks like he is about to fall asleep in this one, but I win out which picture to post since I am the one doing it!) :)

2 Months Old

You know up to a year, you are obligated to do the monthly pictures...so here is Emery at 2 months (I still need to go back and post some Christmas pictures since that was when she turned 1 month! Still having trouble catching up)! :)

Emery's 2 Month Check-up

Well, since I have quit scrapbooking, I am now using my blog to keep track of the kids well-visits (I am currently working on turning my first year blogging into a book and will do that every year from now on if I like how it turns out).

Emery's 2 month check-up was today. She was 11 pounds (51%) and 23 1/4 inches (79%) and her head was 15 1/4 (46%). She has three shots today and did great! I gave her some Tylenol when we got home and she has been one sleepy baby today - hopefully that doesn't mean she will be awake all night now!

Now I need to get some 2 month pictures of her. Maybe tomorrow when she is feeling better!

You'd think I have too much time on my hands, huh? :) Not really - I just saw a picture like this done and had to try it out since she has a little bunny rabbit snowsuit.

A Tear-Jerker

I came across this when I was pregnant with Emery and could pretty much only read one line at a time and then come back to it because I would instantly start crying. I just came across it again and though it still makes me tear-up, it is so true. Just thought I would share it with you all!

I walk along holding your almost 2-year-old hand, basking in the glow Of our magical relationship. Suddenly I feel a kick from within, as if to remind me that our time alone is limited. And I wonder: How could I ever love another child as I love you? Then she is born, and I watch you. I watch the pain you feel at having to share me as you've never shared me before. I hear you telling me in your own way, "Please love only me." And I hear myself telling you in mine, "I can't," Knowing in fact, that I never can again. You cry. I cry with you. I almost see our new baby as an intruder on the precious relationship we once shared. A relationship we can never quite have again. But then, barely noticing, I find myself attached to that new being, and feeling almost guilty. I'm afraid to let you see me enjoying her -- as though I am betraying you. But then I notice your resentment change, first to curiosity, then to protectiveness, finally to genuine affection. More days pass, and we are setting into a new routine. The memory of days with just the two of us is fading fast. But something else is replacing those wonderful times we shared, just us two. There are new times -- only now, we are three. I watch the look between you grow, the way you look at each other, touch each other. I watch how she adores you -- as I have for so long. I see how excited you are by each of her new accomplishments. And I begin to realize that I haven't taken something from you, I've given something to you. I notice that I am no longer afraid to share my love openly with both of you. I find that my love for each of you is as different as you are, but equally strong. And my question is finally answered, to my amazement. Yes, I can love another child as much as I love you -- only differently. And although I realize that you may have to share my time, I now know you'll never share my love. There's enough of that for both of you -- you each have your own supply. I love you -- both. And I thank you both for blessing my life.

Where did my baby go???

It's about time for a Teagun update, huh??? I finally took some new pictures of Teagun yesterday - I hadn't in so long...just so much easier to take pictures of a baby who doesn't move at all right now! :)

But, seriously, doesn't he look so big now??? It probably doesn't help to see him next to his baby sister, a new "big boy" haircut, and (dare I say it???) he is potty trained!!! Yay!!! It still might be a little early to say that, but I am going to be brave! We started the day after his last day of daycare (28th of Dec) - told him we "ran out" of diapers and there just weren't anymore. We had some accidents here and there, but he hasn't had an accident in over a week now. He has even been staying dry ALL night long - that is a huge accomplishment because he was one that would leak through his diaper several times a week because he would go so much. It really was so much easier than I had anticipated (though we did have to clean poop off the floor two times - yuck!).

I am just having the best time being home with him right now. He is so dang sweet, silly and so much fun. I know (and still am really) I was feeling so guilty from pulling him from daycare, but I am so glad to be able to spend more time with him. We joined a playgroup and have gone a couple times already and he enjoys that. We also started going to storytime at the library on Friday mornings. We start Soccer Tots tomorrow morning and I am really looking forward to that - I hope he really enjoys it!

What else??? He loves to sing his ABC's - constantly dancing around the house singing them. He can count to 15 easily - we are working on 20 right now. He can spell his first and last name (we sing it to the tune of the Mickey Mouse song since his name has the same amount of letters). We are working on colors, but that isn't going so well. Makes me a little concerned he may be color blind (apparently it runs in my family - it is inherited from the mother's father). And he is the best big brother. So sweet to Emery and very concerned about her whenever she cries. He really only gets jealous when Grandma is holding her - he tells her, "Put that baby down!" lol...

First Smiles

Emery has been smiling for about a week now and I finally pulled out my camera to get a couple pictures. It is hard to take a picture of her smiling when I am by myself because you still have to work pretty hard for it and then when she does it, I would have to back up to get her in the frame and get my camera to focus on her real quick since I don't have a zoom lens. Just snapshots, but wanted to share her first smiles caught on camera with you all.






I just thought she looked so sweet in this one, so I added it! :)

More Cousins

I had the opportunity to take pictures of these adorable cousins this weekend. You might recognize brother and sister, Kai and Kaylee, as I had the pleasure of taking their pictures this summer. This time their little cousin, Jalon, joined them for (late) Christmas pictures. You can just tell how much they all adore each other!
